It was fantastic to see all the players at the Intro to Hockey Gear Handout! It was wonderful to witness their excitement as they received their equipment, and while some may have felt a little nervous, there were plenty of smiles. Please read the following information carefully, as there are some important details and updates to help you prepare for the first week of Intro to Hockey.

Intro to Hockey Sessions
Sessions will begin on Tuesday, September 10th for Groups 1 & 2, and on Thursday, September 12th for Groups 3 & 4. You can find the schedule for each group at www.bismarckhockey.com/introtohockey.

All sessions will take place at the VFW Sports Center (Rink #3).

Equipment
If any of the equipment you received doesn’t fit, you can exchange it at your player’s first session. Please note that exchanges will not be available before then. (This is an update from information you may have received last night.)

Please complete the provided Google Form (Click Here) if you intend to exchange equipment so we can better prepare. Any girls who needed XS shorts will be able to pick them up at their first session. We encourage you to arrive early to ensure you have enough time for exchanges and to get your player dressed before the session starts so they can fully benefit from their session.

Skates
The skates provided may not be pre-sharpened. To ensure they’re ready for the first practice, you can have them sharpened at Duffy’s Hockey & Sports (216 W. Front Ave.). Mention that the skates are for Intro to Hockey, and the cost should be billed to Bismarck Hockey. If you're not sure whether the skates were sharpened at pickup, the staff at Duffy’s can check for you.

Sticks
We recommend taping the sticks before the first practice, although curving them isn’t necessary at this stage. The focus will be on getting comfortable with the stick.

BHB Regular Season
If your player is interested in continuing into the regular season, please note the upcoming parent meetings:

  • Squirts/10U & Older: Sunday, September 15th (Time TBD)
  • Termites & Mites: Sunday, October 6th (Time TBD)

These meetings are a great opportunity to learn more about the season or to gather additional information if you’re undecided. Additional details about the regular season will be shared once the Intro to Hockey sessions begin. For important dates, sign-ups, and more, please visit www.bismarckhockey.com and follow us on Facebook for updates and announcements.

How to Get Your Player Dressed
Here’s a helpful video on how to dress a youth hockey player: How to Dress a Youth Hockey Player. Please make sure to bring all required items, including the neck guard, as they are mandatory this year.

If you have any questions, please contact operationscoordinator@bismarckhockey.com.

We look forward to a fantastic September watching these kids grow, and we hope they decide to continue with us!
