Now Seeking Candidates for BHB Board of Directors

As we eagerly anticipate the future of our organization, we are pleased to announce the upcoming elections for the BHB Board of Directors, which will be conducted electronically for your convenience and accessibility.

According to the newly approved BHB's Bylaws that were approved at the Board Meeting on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, BHB seeks candidates for the following positions:

Board of Directors

  • Secretary
  • Member At-Large Fundraising Chairperson

Note: BHB is also currently seeking dedicated individuals to serve as Member-At-Large BHB LLC Board Chairperson or Treasurer. These are Board-Appointed Positions to fill current vacancies. 

The Board of Directors’ focus is to provide oversight into the business side of the Club and to the Executive Director.  The BOD members should have a strong desire to assist with the business decisions and engage in matters related to the operations of the Club.  The BOD members make decisions as to what is best for the business of Bismarck Hockey Boosters.

To express your interest in running for a position, please email president@bismarckhockey.com no later than May 7th, stating your intent to run and providing a brief biography that outlines your background and how you believe you can contribute to the future success of BHB.

The Annual BHB Board Meeting will be held on May 13th at 5:30 pm at The Pier Bar & Grill.  We encourage our membership to come to the meeting to hear more about what occurred this season and what we will be working on in the off-season, along with hearing from Board candidates.

We will send all registered members an email on May 12th with a one-time link to vote. The link will ONLY be active starting at 7:30pm on May 12th and will close at 7:30pm on May 13th. Each voting link provided in the email is intended for a single use only. Once you have cast your vote, the link will expire, safeguarding the integrity of the election process.

Board Positions Descriptions

Secretary:  Term Expires in Year 2027 (2-year term, elected 2025)

The Secretary shall record minutes for all Club and Board meetings and post the meeting agendas and approved meeting minutes, along with a financial summary, the Executive Director Report and Hockey Director Report; on the Club’s website on a monthly basis. (2020) He or she shall report at each Club meeting on all the Board meetings held since the last Club meeting.

Member-At-Large Fundraising Chairperson:  Term Expires in Year 2028 (3-year term, elected 2025)

There shall be three (3) Directors-at-Large. One shall serve as the Chairperson of the Hockey Committee, one shall serve on the Fundraising Committee, and one shall serve as the Chairperson of the BHB LLC Board. The Fundraising Committee Director-at-Large shall possess relevant background pertaining to fundraising and assisting with carrying out fundraising events. The roles are to attend all Board meetings and vote on relevant issues pertaining to BHB and represent BHB when asked. Other duties include but are not limited to:

➢ Serve on the assigned committee;
➢ Assist the committee to carry out their functions;
➢ Report back to the Board on the committee’s functions.

Member-At-Large - BHB LLC Board:  Term Expires in Year 2027 (3-year term, elected 2024)

This is a Board-Appointed Position to fill a current vacancy. 

There shall be three (3) Directors-at-Large. One shall serve as the Chairperson of the Hockey Committee, one shall serve on the Fundraising Committee, and one shall serve as the Chairperson of the BHB LLC Board. The BHB LLC Board Director-At-Large shall possess relevant knowledge and experience pertaining to business, real estate, and/or management in order to successfully fulfill the requirements of overseeing any business endeavors obtained through BHB LLC. The roles are to attend all Board meetings and vote on relevant issues pertaining to BHB and represent BHB when asked.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

➢ Serve on the assigned committee;
➢ Assist the committee to carry out their functions;
➢ Report back to the Board on the committee’s functions.

Treasurer:  Term Expires in Year 2026 (3-year term, elected 2023)

This is a Board-Appointed Position to fill a current vacancy. 

The Treasurer will oversee the Board appointed accounting firm and oversee the Executive Director’s responsibilities related to the financial interest of the Club. The Treasurer shall sit on the BHB LLC Board. In conjunction with the Executive Director, the Treasurer shall prepare and present a budget for approval by the Board of Directors at the June meeting. The Treasurer shall, on demands of the Board of Directors, permit the accounts of the Club to be audited by an accounting firm as appointed by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer and Executive Director shall submit an unaudited monthly financial report to the Board of Directors and shall submit a reviewed financial statement for the preceding year to the membership at the General Membership meeting in May each year, as allowed and available through the Club’s accounting firm.
