As we eagerly anticipate the future of our organization, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming elections for the BHB Board of Directors and Hockey Committee, which will be conducted electronically for your convenience and accessibility. 

We will send all registered members an email on May 20th with a one-time link to vote. The link will ONLY be active starting at 7:30pm on May 20th and will close at 7:30pm on May 21st. Each voting link provided in the email is intended for a single use only. Once you have cast your vote, the link will expire, safeguarding the integrity of the election process.

According to the newly approved BHB's Bylaws that were approved at the Board Meeting on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024, BHB seeks nominations for the following positions:

Board of Directors

• Secretary
• Member At-Large Disciplinary Chairperson

The Board of Directors’ focus is to provide oversight into the business side of the Club and to the Executive Director.  The BOD members should have a strong desire to assist with the business decisions and engage in matters related to the operations of the Club.  The BOD members make decisions as to what is best for the business of Bismarck Hockey Boosters.  

Hockey Committee

• Secretary
• Vice-Chair

These positions on the Hockey Committee should be held by members who have a vast hockey background and knowledge about developing youth hockey players who want to assist the Hockey Director in continuing to grow and improve the hockey program across all levels.  The members of the Hockey Committee shall hold discussions related to all on-ice and off-ice hockey matters and shall be the point of contact for all hockey-related questions and concerns from members.  Monthly meetings are required.  The Hockey Committee members are not BOD members, except the Chairperson of the Committee.

The next BHB Board Meeting will be held on May 21st at 5:30 pm at The Pier Bar & Grill.  This is a general membership meeting as well and we encourage our membership to come to the meeting to hear more about what occurred this season and what we will be working on in the off-season, along with hearing from Board and/or Hockey Committee candidates. Board Positions & Hockey Committee Positions Descriptions

BOARD POSITIONS

Secretary:  Term Expires in Year 2025 (1-year term in election year 2024; 2-year term, starting with election year 2025)

The Secretary position should be held by an organized individual who is familiar with board functions and Robert's Rules of Order.  The Secretary shall record minutes for all Club and Board meetings and post the meeting agendas and approved meeting minutes, along with a financial summary, the Executive Director Report and Hockey Director Report; on the Club’s website on a monthly basis in a timely fashion. The Secretary is expected to be present at all meetings and if the Secretary cannot be present for a meeting, the Secretary shall find an alternative to record meeting minutes for that meeting.

Member-At-Large Disciplinary Chairperson:  Term Expires in Year 2027 (3-year term, elected 2024)

The Member-At-Large Disciplinary Chairperson should be held by a member who is able to dedicate time to preparing documents and attending hearings.  This person shall be the point of contact for all disciplinary matters throughout the season.  The Chairperson will be responsible for meeting all requirements of the Grievance Policies and Procedures by providing notices and findings to those involved, setting meeting dates, reporting all disciplinary matters to appropriate parties, and ensuring all matters are resolved in a timely manner. This person will be the liaison from the Disciplinary Board to the Board of Directors.

HOCKEY COMMITTEE POSITIONS

Secretary:  Term Expires in Year 2026 (2-year term, elected 2024)

The Secretary position shall record minutes for all Hockey Committee meetings and provide the minutes to the Hockey Committee for approval in a timely fashion. Upon approval by the Hockey Committee, the Secretary shall provide the meeting minutes to the Hockey Committee Chairperson prior to the next scheduled Board of Directors meeting.  The Secretary is expected to be present at all meetings and if the Secretary cannot be present for a meeting, the Secretary shall find an alternative to record meeting minutes for that meeting.

Vice Chair:  Term Expires in Year 2026 (2-year term, elected 2024)

The Vice Chair position acts as a backup for the Chairperson, in the event the Chairperson is unable to attend a meeting or is unable to serve in the capacity of Chairperson.  The Vice Chair shall ensure all meetings are scheduled on a monthly basis and shall assist the Chairperson in providing an agenda to all Hockey Committee members in advance of the meeting.
